BLOG: April Walk Challenge

blog_image.jpg

April is here and with it came 70 degree weather! Spring is an amazing season to experience in Atlanta. Local parks, festivals and sunshine bring many of Atlanta’s finest out from hibernation. We hope the inspiration to be outside motivates you to leave your car at home (not to mention the high gas prices and well, your car hasn’t seen a hose in months—your cool ride is now an unsightly mess).

As further inspiration, ASAP+ hosts the Walk There! Challenge every April. It’s a fun competition that gets you out of winter hibernation mode. And all you have to do is … WALK. Yep, that’s right. We are talking about the oldest of the old-fashioned ways of getting around – good ol’ one foot in front of the other. Walk to lunch. Walk your dog around the block every night (thank you daylight savings time). Or walk because you want to win some of our cool prizes.

Our challenge is simple. Grab a free pedometer. Come over to the Commuter Café to pick it up. Then log onto ASAP-PLUS.com and tell us how many steps you take during April.

If you are participating in the Walk Challenge this year, tell us know how you plan to walk more this April. Or where you're walking. Or why you're walking. Click below to leave your comment. ASAP+ bloggers get random prizes (yep, we’re cool like that).

Check back in the new Park & Write blog often. We’ll be posting pictures, discussing your comments and adding updates on the competitions daily. Good luck walking!

I'm doing the challenge b/c my friend and i are trying to exercise more to lose weight. First one who loses 5 lbs gets 5 bucks from the other! Tracking my steps with the pedometer helps me figure out how much more exercise I"m getting ... and how much more should do to win.
